Day 2

(140905 wednesday)

woke up at 0700. damn natural clock. nothing to do, so mandi and woke everyone up. still raining outside. zar still got workshop until 1600 so she left early. only me, faz & viv set out into the wild bustling city, only problem is, we went out too early in the day. haha took the sky train to siam station, walk down to siam square, shops still closed need to fill up belly so have breakfast at some outlet in siam square called Canton House (KK also got this restaurant name) ordered green noddle (looks like kon lo mien) 60 baht, nice but too starchy and small portion. after breakfast, walk to chulalongkorn university konon wanna buy their t-shirt but they have it only in pink colour... cancel that. then search for hard rock bangkok.

I wanna mention here that every pole we saw in siam square got speakers where they played music from their local station or something, faz said they probably aired some govenment propaganda everyday. very loud speakers, the locals seem to enjoy it tho. so early morning wake up to your local radio station, not bad also lah the songs, we actually walk one round before viv finally notice the sign terang terang says HARD ROCK (huge yellow creamish building with a big tuk tuk in front).

viv: there hard rock!!!
faz: oh yeah lucky i saw it!!
me: (thinking to meself) *damn rain i'm wet*

I guess when it rains or drizzle nobody looks up (also bcoz payung block). did i mention that there's live wires everywhere? like one touch away. it's a miracle we or the locals didnt get electrocuted, anyway faz already happy jumpa hard rock so we decided to take a break & drink coffee cause its still 0930 and shops only opens at 1100. went to black canyon coffee, i had coffee grande. ice blended coffee + chocolate ice cream 550 baht. faz likes the chairs so much he took several pictures (no camera allowed). still raining mind you. so we wait in the outlet drinking ice coffee until 1030 then we're off again. soaking a bit sajuk mau mati. then somehow under the rain we pass this building that says coffee banking, faz went in and shocked to find its a real bank where u can do bank transactions and at the same time enjoy starbucks coffee. creative + smart almost got lost but we manage to find MBK (maboonkrong)(our main destination) went in, sakai a bit cause the building is huge. got a map of the bulding (if they give map for any building ... well u get the picture lah how huge it is) from the information counter.

We decided to start from bottom then make our way to the top. the lenght to go from side A to side B is like the length of a football field. it took us two hours to reach level 2 (there's 8 levels, we start on level 1) then take a lunch break at this place called santa's. faz said it's like sugar bun in kk, the concept lah but the food portions they give very little, come to think of it all the food portions they give very little, thats why cepat hungry, no wonder all the ppl there all kurus. anyway i had some rice with chicken or something, cost 39 baht. after that continue walking to 3th floor .... the whole floor sells only electronics and mostly handphone. imagine the whole floors all handphone outlets. bulih gila oh. madness!! so many ppl and soooo many handphone shops, and they all look the same, not much variety dunno how they compete. all three of us pening after walking that whole floor. like trying to come out from a difficult maze. saw some stalls that sells bootlegged DVDs cheap, and they terang terang sells some 5 stars DVD. out in the open. culture shock also lah sikit i. then moved on to the 4th floor. here kaki a bit pain already. more food stalls and a food court. also more kedai that sells cheap t-shirts and pants and banyak lagi lah. didnt buy much cause we wanna see our options so we window shop first and mark the shop so that we can go back if theres no other choice. okay walk to 5th floor, furniture shop, skip this floor, give kaki a break, then moved on to 6th floor, more shops, more food stalls, handicraft stalls walk faster, legs pain, 7th floor almost done, game arcade, cinema, there's even a booth where u can sing karaoke (transparent booth tho so not much ppl went)...... are we there yet? 8th floor? MBK tower .... time check 1530. MBK done!

faz: so where should we go now its only 3.30?!
viv: dunno
me: we can check out central world plaza
viv: ok

Only problem we dunno where it is. consult map. oh just the next building after siam paragon, fine we walk there then. outside still raining, detour to siam discovery centre, still under renovation not much shops open, went out continue walking, feet soaking wet , pain returned with a vengeance. when your feet hurts like **** its seems forever to reach that place, halfway walking, i noticed the sky walk, with roof!!!

me: (shouting to faz) how come we didnt walk that way, using that??!! *pointing at sky walk*
faz: what? where? oppps didnt see.
me: *growling*

In the end manage to walk to the trade centre, went in wanted to buy sandals or more confortable dry shoes. no luck, its one of those high end shopping malls. kinda empty (after MBK everything looks empty) no shoes, no sandals either, hampa. then walk to Gaysorn Plaza.

viv: toy u should buy umbrella
me: forget about that now i'm all wet, it probably stop raining altogether until the weekend once i buy one.
viv: THEN!! what u waiting for buy one now!!!
me: ok ok, if i see one i buy one.

Reach Gaysorn plaza, another high end shopping mall, here u get all the armani, gucci, lorenzo ... u get the picture. time check 1630.

me: should we get back to the hotel, zar prob. on the way back by now.
faz: ya we better get back and rest our kaki a bit before dinner at hard rock.
viv: ok how do we get back to the sky train
me: *consult map* we should go to the chit lom station its nearer. just after this gaysorn plaza.
faz: ok lead the way.

More walking, dragging feets actually, finally reach chit lom station, took the train back to asia hotel, reach hotel soak all our feets in hot hot water.. ahh... anyway zar came in 5 mins after we masuk, so after mandi and getting ready, we're all off to have dinner at hard rock. faz bought some t-shirts in hard rock then we have meat for dinner. all meat. huge portions by the time we finish everyone bloated habis. zar paid for the meal, mine was 280 baht i think, forgot to bring camera so no pictures of hard rock bangkok. then proceed to Suan Lum night market. nobody knows how to go cept zar so she takes the lead. only two wrong turn for whole trip naik sky train and MRT so kira ok cause we manage to reach that place. night market in bangkok 100% much better, cleaner and bigger than night market in KK. but because it was raining heavily we decided to cut short (come back tomorrow), then headed back to hotel and zar just realised that its already wednesday and she needs to hand up report tomorrow, so she decided to forgoe visiting the old kingdom tomorrow and do work instead. so she burn the midnight oil (hotel light more like it) while the rest of us sleep and snore like a passing thunderstorm ... well me lah mostly.

Waitress: NO! YOU EAT!
Faz: ok yes we eat .... (dengan muka blur when back to the table)
me: so? they send to the table?
Faz: ... er ... She just said YOU EAT! .... so i guess yes lah
me & viv: ??? ..... (then everyone burst out laughing)
